One of Bavaria’s most iconic mountain views is waiting for us and if all goes well, we’ll get to enjoy it together this weekend 🏔️Hike to Kampenwand Ost 


The weather is looking quite promising so far 🌤️Key points:

  • Meeting point: 08:16am in Aschau 😊Train connection: (RE5 departs 07:04 at Munich Ost, with a switch to RB52 which departs at 08:02 from Prien)

  • We’ll hike up together as a group in a relaxed pace (350-400hm/h) and then decide at Steinlingalm whether we continue to the Kampenwand East Summit. The last part from Steinlingalm to Summit is the most crucial one and depending on ice/snow conditions we will move ahead or go back.

  • Steinlingalm says they are open in good weather ☕🥨 but it’s still a good idea to bring your own snacks / lunch and enough water, just to be on the safe side

  • Usual disclaimer: I’m not a mountain guide 🙈 so everyone joins at their own responsibility and should feel comfortable with mountain hiking, uneven terrain, and making their own decisions on the mountain

  • Please bring:
    • sturdy hiking boots 🥾
    • a waterproof / windproof jacket 🧥
    • a warm extra layer 🧣
    • enough water 💧
    • snacks or lunch 🥪🍎
    • sunglasses & sunscreen 🕶️☀️
    • cash 💶
    • a fully charged phone 📱

Dear all, tomorrow is the Kampenwand hike! 🏞️🙌🏼 We will have quite some snow and looking at webcams, the view might be rather gray ☁️ BUT - I personally would still want to give it a try and see how far we come. We might not get to the top and everybody will need to be honest about their limits, so if you decide to join please note that I am not a mountain Guide - you take your own decisions 😉 Regarding meeting point: We arrive at 08:16 in Aschau. See you latest there ;) alternatively, The RE5 to Prien *departs* at 06:55 from Central Station - i personally will join at Munich Ost. Looking forward seeing you tomorrow! ☺️☺️

In case anybody would like to join last minute: we have some drop out due to illness, however HB wont let you leave the Event of it's<12 hours until the hike. just join us on the way if you'd like to be part of the hike - starting point & time mentioned in description
