Description

Hello everybody!

Would like to plan a hike to Seekarkreuz via Grasleitensteig to Lenggrieser Hütte

If you'd like to join.

Good to know

Our tour begins at the parking lot behind Hohenburg Castle.

From the parking lot, we follow trail 601, the DAV (German Alpine Club) signpost for "Sulzersteig – Lenggrieser Hütte – Seekarkreuz".

We eventually reach a bridge. The trail branches off to the right before the bridge. Now we follow the signs for "Lenggrieser Hütte – Seekarkreuz via Sulzersteig" (trail number 612). From here, the route continues along the rushing Sulzbach stream. This path winds its way gradually uphill through the cool mountain forest. Finally, we reach the Seekarstraße, a forest road (trail number 613), and turn right towards "Lenggrieser Hütte – Seekarkreuz". After a few meters, we come to the two Seekar alpine pastures. These are not managed, but from here it's only a few minutes to the Lenggrieser Hütte. There, we have the opportunity to recharge on the cozy terrace. Afterwards, we set off towards the summit.

To begin, keep left at the hut and follow trail 622 at the fork. This trail is also marked with the yellow/black sign LS 3. The path leads uphill through the forest and over a ridge.

On this ridge, turn left and climb the final few meters to the Seekarkreuz summit. Here, you can enjoy the breathtaking views: of the Karwendel and Mangfall mountains, down to the Seekar alpine pastures, and to the Lenggrieser Hütte.

For the descent, return along the ridge to the fork and from there descend back to the Lenggrieser Hütte. There, take trail 621, marked with a red dot in a white circle. The yellow/black LS 2 marker runs parallel to this trail.

Now, descend the Grasleitensteig through the cool mountain forest. The first few meters are a bit steep and can be very slippery when wet. We stay on the path, which leads to a forest road, following the signs towards Lenggries. After a while, the forest road rejoins a small hiking trail. Along the way, we can enjoy the impressive view of the Brauneck mountain opposite.

The path now leads us to the gently babbling Mühlbach stream. We cross it and finally reach the village of Mühlbach. From here, it's only a few minutes back to our starting point. Staying on the paved road, we cross the Hirschbach stream one last time and are now back at the starting point in the parking lot near Hohenburg Castle.

Hi, looks like a great hike. Do we take public transport to reach there?
