Description

A spring warm-up traverse across the Bayerische Voralpen to enjoy a cold one under the sun at the Aueralm.

Technical Difficulty: This hike is not suitable for complete beginners, as there are sections of steep uphill and downhill, combined with the changing conditions of the trail. You must be surefooted and able to adapt to spring conditions (possible mud, slush, snow, ice). Expect to have a small section of easy scrambling, and not be too slow (~400m gain/hour).

Weather and snow conditions: Forecast looks good and sunny, with temperatures up to 11° at the top and about 18° in the valley.

Transport: We will take public transport. Train RB56 departs 09:02 from Hbf, 09:09 from Harras (I will be joining from Harras). Please get on the section going to Lenggries. Return options are plently, at intervals of 30mins or hourly, depending on the time of day. Bring your Deutschlandticket or organize your own ticket.

Things to bring:

  • proper hiking shoes
  • hiking poles
  • food and water for the day
  • appropriate clothing according to the weather
  • gaiters / spikes
  • GPX viewer with the route information
  • cash, potentially for the hut
