Description

A couple of years ago, I didn’t manage to get a ticket for the official KOASA event (nowadays called Ebbser Marsch/ Trailrunning), so I decided to do my own upgraded version of the KOASA Marsch as a hike — 40 km with 2000 m of elevation gain.

Now it’s time to repeat this long adventure… with a “slight” upgrade.
This time, the route includes my lovely trio: Naunspitze, Petersköpfl, and Pyramidenspitze, plus a couple of new peaks on the way to Stripsenkopf. Most of the route is T2, except for some more demanding sections like Vogelbad and Großer Roßkaiser (T5).
We’ll skip the Klettersteige at Stripsenkopf and Hundskopf because we want to stay lightweight and avoid carrying a KS set and helmet.

To have enough time for the tour, proper recovery before Monday’s hike, and to avoid struggling in the heat, we’ll start early from Oberaudorf. Why there? Because I’d love to reach Vorderkaiserfeldenhütte via the beautiful Musikantensteig trail starting from Ebbs.

Another challenge is food and water logistics: we need to carry enough snacks and at least 2-3 liters of water until Stripsenjochhaus. Vorderkaiserfeldenhütte is still under renovation until October, and Großmoos/ Hochalm is closed. At Stripsenjochhaus, the middle of the tour, we can enjoy lunch& refill water. And if it’s too crowded, there are still alternatives like Anton-Karg-Haus, Hans-Berger-Haus, or other huts on the way back to Kufstein.

There are also a few water stations along the route, but since the water may not always be drinkable, carrying enough water until Stripsenjochhaus is a MUST.

This tour is definitely for very fit early birds, who is ready to challenge themselves with 40+ km distance and 3000+ meters of elevation gain 🥾⛰️🫶
