Looking for the perfect Saturday escape? Join us for an unforgettable hike along one of Switzerland's most beautiful and historic trails! We will be tackling Stage 7 of the Waldstätterweg, featuring a dramatic gorge, jaw-dropping panoramic views of the Urnersee, a massive summit BBQ, and a descent to the legendary birthplace of Switzerland.
📍 The Route Highlights:
The Launch: We start right at the lake in Beckenried and immediately push into the spectacular Risletenschlucht gorge, hiking up historic paths next to rushing waterfalls and steep rock faces.
The Summit Feast: We will reach the high plateau of Seelisberg and host our BBQ at the Marienhöhe viewpoint. This spot boasts an unbelievable panoramic view over the lake and a fully equipped fire pit for our group!
The Historic Finale: After the BBQ, we’ll hit an absolutely gorgeous official viewpoint on the Weg der Schweiz to take in the Urnersee and Seelisberg. From there, we make our final descent down to the iconic Rütli meadow—the exact spot where the Swiss Confederacy was founded in 1291. We will also have time to check out the small museum detailing the history of Switzerland.
The Scenic Ride Home: We will catch a beautiful ferry ride directly from the historic Rütli dock to head back to the train station.
🥩 The Summit BBQ (Potluck Style!): This isn't just a quick sandwich break; it is a shared summit feast!
I have the fire covered: I will bring the lighter and take full charge of getting the grill blazing for everyone.
What you should bring: Please bring whatever you want to throw on the grill (bratwurst, veggies, etc.) AND something to share with the group (a side dish, chips, dessert, or drinks). Let's coordinate in the event chat so we end up with a great spread!
