Description

🚨 IMPORTANT – PLEASE READ

If you're looking for a relaxing weekend stroll, you've opened the wrong event. 😄

DO NOT JOIN THIS TOUR UNLESS YOU HAVE SPOKEN TO ME PERSONALLY FIRST.

Participation will only be confirmed after discussing:

  • Previous via ferrata experience

  • Difficult routes completed

  • Fitness level

  • Comfort with exposure and alpine terrain

If you have only completed A/B or B/C ferratas, this route is most likely not the right next step.

This is not a route for experimentation.

One of the most spectacular and demanding via ferrata adventures in Austria, combining the legendary Tajakante ridge traverse with the steep Coburger Klettersteig above the stunning Seebensee and Drachensee.

This is a serious alpine day featuring exposed ridge climbing, difficult ferrata sections, breathtaking scenery, and a long descent through Brendlkar.

🚆 Travel Plan

We will take the train to Ehrwald Zugspitzbahn:

  • Departure from München-Pasing: 05:30

  • Participants can also join from München HBF

  • Multiple return connections are available, with options up to approximately 21:31

Please be punctual. This is a long mountain day and we need an early start.

🏔️ Route Overview

  • Ehrwald Zugspitzbahn

  • Seebensee

  • Drachensee

  • Coburger Hütte

  • Tajakante Klettersteig (D/E)

  • Vorderer Tajakopf (2450 m)

  • Hinterer Tajakopf (2408 m)

  • Coburger Klettersteig (D/E)

  • Descent via Brendlkar

  • Return to Ehrwald

Expect a full-day alpine adventure with significant elevation gain, exposed terrain, and sustained physical effort.

⛓️ Difficulty

This route is NOT suitable for beginners.

The Tajakante Klettersteig is considered one of Austria's most beautiful via ferratas, but it demands:

  • Previous difficult via ferrata experience

  • Comfort on highly exposed terrain

  • Strong endurance

  • Good upper-body strength

  • Sure-footedness and mountain experience

The Coburger Klettersteig adds another steep and demanding D/E challenge to an already long day.

This is a route where experience matters.

🧰 WHAT GEAR DO I NEED?

  • Appropriate footwear

  • Via ferrata set + "Rastschlinge"

  • Helmet

  • Climbing gloves

  • Towel to dry yourself after the swim

  • Hiking poles (optional)

  • Water (3+ liters minimum)

  • Food/snacks for the entire day

  • Appropriate hiking clothes

  • Sunscreen

  • First aid kit (optional)

💧 Food & Water

There are long sections of the route where resupply is not possible.

Please bring:

  • At least 3 liters of water

  • Enough food and snacks for a demanding full-day mountain adventure

If your nutrition strategy is "someone else will have extra," please revise your strategy immediately. 😄

Any snacks still remaining at the end of the hike will automatically become community property. Amyth law. 🏔️🍫

What to Expect

🏔️ One of Austria's most beautiful ridge traverses
⛓️ Sustained D/E via ferrata climbing
🌊 Stunning views of Seebensee and Drachensee
📸 Endless photo opportunities
😅 Questionable life decisions during the steep sections
🍺 A very well-earned drink at the end

The views are world-class.

The exposure is world-class.

The challenge is world-class.

And that is exactly why we're doing it.
