Description

Drachenwand Via Ferrata (Mondsee)

Join me for one of the most scenic via ferratas in Austria! The Drachenwand offers fantastic views over Mondsee and combines exposed climbing sections with a rewarding summit.

  • Difficulty: C/D
  • Duration: Approx. 4–5 hours (including breaks)
  • Elevation gain: ~670 m

This route is not suitable for complete via ferrata beginners. There are several exposed sections where you should feel confident moving on steel cables and ladders.

You should:

  • Have previous via ferrata experience (at least an easy to moderate route)
  • Be surefooted and comfortable with heights
  • Have a reasonable level of fitness and bring and wear a helmet during the via ferrata.
  • Have all equipment for a via ferrata tour of this degree

If you have a new Hiking Buddies profile or no via ferrata experience listed, please send me a short message or leave a comment describing your previous experience (which routes you've done, approximate difficulty, etc.). If I feel the route may not be a suitable match for your current experience, I may have to decline your participation. This isn't personal it's simply to ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable day in the mountains.

I will create a whatsapp group for the final participants. If the weather looks bad I will move the date of the event.

Looking forward to a great day 😊
