Description

HB x Wolf Trail — Kandersteg Alpine Circuit

Sponsored by Jack Wolfskin 🐺

A two-day alpine adventure through one of the most spectacular circuits in the Bernese Oberland — starting and ending in Kandersteg, crossing the Ueschinengrat ridge, the Lämmerensee, Gemmipass, and Daubensee. We'll overnight at the iconic Lämmerenhütte SAC at 2,502m, with Jack Wolfskin covering the night + half board for all participants and offering each hiker a goodie to take on the trail.

This is a serious two-day undertaking. The first day alone involves ~2,000m of elevation gain. Please read the prerequisites carefully before signing up — the list is capped at exactly 10 participants, no exceptions.

Prerequisites

  • 1 hike required in your Hiking Buddies profile
  • Pace of at least 600m gain / hour (this is a fairly sporty pace — make sure you know what it means before signing up)

Schedule (approx.)

🗓️ Day 1 — Friday 31 July — Kandersteg → Ueschinengrat → Felsenhorn → Lämmerenhütte

  • 08:00 — Meet at LKS Parking, Talstat. Sunnbüel, 3718 Kandersteg. Gear check & goodies distribution
  • 08:30 — Departure
  • High point: Felsenhorn (2,781m) ⛰️
  • Afternoon — Arrival at Lämmerenhütte SAC (2,502m)
  • Evening — Dinner at the hut (half board covered by Jack Wolfskin) 🍽️

🗓️ Day 2 — Saturday 1 August — Lämmerenhütte → Gemmipass → Daubensee → Kandersteg

  • 07:00 — Early breakfast at the hut (included in half board)
  • 07:30 — Departure
  • Via Gemmipass and Daubensee
  • Afternoon — Back in Kandersteg

Do not plan anything tight on Saturday evening in case of unexpected delays.

Jack Wolfskin Goodies Each participant will receive one goodie (shirt, bottle, or cap) at the meeting point on Friday morning. We'll encourage everyone to wear their Jack Wolfskin gear on the trail — we'll be taking photos along the way! 📸

Gear

Mandatory:

  • Hiking boots or trail running shoes
  • At least 2.5L of water per day
  • Food/snacks for both days (dinner & breakfast provided at the hut)
  • Warm mid-layer and waterproof jacket — temperatures above 2,500m can drop significantly even in summer
  • Headlamp
  • Sun protection (sunscreen, sunglasses, hat)

Recommended:

  • Trekking poles
  • Gaiters
