Let´s go for a fantastic day in the Karwendel Alps on one of the most scenic circular hikes in the region! Starting from Scharnitz, we'll explore the beautiful Gleirschklamm gorge, cross wooden bridges above rushing mountain streams, climb through peaceful forests to the summit of Zäunlkopf (1,749 m), and enjoy breathtaking panoramic views before stopping at Oberbrunnalm for a well-deserved break. We'll then return to Scharnitz through quiet woodland, completing an unforgettable day surrounded by nature.
This is a moderate mountain hike of approximately 18 km, with around 900 m of elevation gain, and will take about 6.5–7 hours, including breaks. A good level of fitness is required, as there is a sustained uphill section and some uneven terrain. The gorge can also be slippery after rain, so sturdy hiking boots with good grip are essential. Trekking poles are recommended, and please bring enough water, snacks or lunch, weather-appropriate clothing, and sun protection.
We'll hike at a relaxed, enjoyable pace, taking regular breaks to rest, enjoy the views, and take photos. The goal is to have a great day outdoors together rather than to rush.
Please note: This is an informal group hike, not a guided tour. By joining, you acknowledge that you participate entirely at your own risk and responsibility. Every participant is responsible for assessing their own fitness, wearing suitable equipment, and ensuring they have appropriate insurance if needed. The organizer accepts no liability for accidents, injuries, loss, or damage during the event.
Looking forward to sharing a great day in the mountains with you!
