Description

Guffert is a 2.195m high mountain in the "Rofangebirge" in Austria and looks like a rocky pyramid. The beautiful mountain is called "The Matterhorn above the Achensee". The round trip-route (ascent from the South / Steinberg descent via Luxeck) is a classic T3 hiking-route with some scrambling and takes 6-7h up and down.

The route is well signed out, because of the south exposition and the "Latschen" it`s very hot in summer. Near the peak be careful, stones are polished - some sections safed with steel ropes. [Thanks to Thomas for the description]

I've seen this peak from many angles now, and I've always been intrigued. I want to take a chance before the snow comes in to get to the summit!

The days are getting short, but the weather is still looking good. This is a fast-paced hike [500 hm/hour] for fit buddies with some experience of scrambling. You'll need a good head for heights, sturdy shoes and a positive attitude. On this hike, we all move together, at the pace of the slowest person.

Equipment:

  • Hiking boots
  • Head torch
  • Water and food for the entire day
  • Waterproofs
  • Warm clothing

Optional equipment:

  • Hiking poles
  • First aid kit
  • Compass and map

If I haven't hiked with you before and you don't have many hikes on this website, please send me a message when joining to let me know what your previous experience is. I'm very happy to make new friends, but you need to be able to keep up with the group. I may remove you without warning if you don't contact me, but I will feel a bit sad about doing so.

We aim to be back in Munich by the early evening (8 pm or so), but please don't make any plans. If the traffic is bad, we might chose to stop for dinner instead of sitting for ages in a traffic jam.

Good to know

I prefer hiking in small groups, where we all stick together. Therefore there will only be one car with five people in it, and there are already three spaces reserved for me and two friends! We'll meet under Donnersbergerbrücke, here: https://goo.gl/maps/SeXUFwLqYYeh5hng8, where there is a small car park.

Note Please unjoin the event asap if you can't participate anymore. You can't drop out less than 12 hrs before the event starts! If you happen to be sick and have to cancel beyond those 12 hours, please drop me a message or leave a comment.

Disclaimer: Hiking can be a risky and dangerous sport. I am not a mountain guide. Everyone joins this event at her/his own responsibility. Ensure you are healthy and do not participate if you don't feel well. Should you start feeling unwell during the hike, let me know immediately. It is highly recommended to bring a map and a cell phone
