Description

Let’s have a nice long day out on the Kramer, with great views of Garmisch and Zugspitze. There is a hut (Stepbergalm) serving great kaiserschmarrn (and I imagine other hut food too), so we will stop there for lunch before our descent. It shouldn’t be too technical.

This is a reasonably long day, and you should have experience of hikes this year, or from previous years of at least 20 km and 1500 m ascent. Please do not sign up if you need to be back in Munich for an evening engagement, as it is hard to predict how long we will take, Sunday afternoon traffic can be considerable, and it is nicer not to have the added pressure.

Good to know

Weather

Rain is forecast for Sunday morning. This means you should bring waterproofs, so you do not get wet or cold, and so that everything in your backpack stays dry. The start time may be moved later to avoid particularly bad weather, which will be communicated by 20:00 on Saturday at the latest in the comments here and by email.

Safety

Please observe all laws and guidelines for preventing the spread of coronavirus, such as maintaining social distancing when on the mountain. I have created this event in order to find other people keen on walking in the mountains, but I am not a guide, and each member is responsible for their own safety. You are expected to familiarise yourself with the route before registering, and only register once you are happy that you can complete it.

Transport

This is a carpool event, so please see the carpool tab to register for a car and to find out when and where to meet. If there is a car park fee, this will be split between members of each car in addition to the journey price listed.
