Description

Let’s play in the snow before it melts away! This is a snowshoe hike to the south of Tegernsee. The route is not fixed, and another suggestion is Wallberg (this in reverse, Strava link). We’ll decide on the exact route on the train/depending on snow conditions. If you do not have snowshoes, they can be hired from the DAV for between €4.50 and €9. We will be back in Munich in time to return them on Saturday evening.

Kit list

This is what I am bringing; your kit list should be similar.

  • snowshoes
  • sturdy hiking boots, waterproof
  • spikes (in case of icy sections where snowshoes are not applicable)
  • walking poles
  • gaiters (it’ll be snowy)
  • gloves
  • FFP2 mask
  • head torch
  • first aid kit, survival bag/emergency bivvy
  • snacks
  • lunch
  • cash (always useful)
  • more snacks
  • water (2 ℓ)
  • Alpenverein membership, or similar insurance
  • 3G proof and ID
  • waterproofs (jacket, trousers)
  • warm layers
  • sunglasses
  • suncream
  • phone (please save my number +49 163 2658919/WhatsApp/Facebook Messenger), extra battery
  • map (downloaded to your phone with the route, e.g. with Mapy.cz; or on paper)

Transport

We are taking the train from München Harras, with a Bayern ticket. I will buy this in advance in the morning, please message me by 7am to confirm that you would like to be on it. This way, you are welcome to join on the train from Hauptbahnhof (7:30, with your own ticket to Harras), and we can meet up on the train. If you do not let me know by 7am, you will have to buy your own Bayern-Ticket.

Outbound: Munich Harras 7:37 – 8:39 Tegernsee 8:45 – 9556 bus to Scharling Grundnerweg.

Return: Oberhof Naturkäserei, Kreuth (9556 bus) – Tegernsee – Munich Hbf (departing 12:12, 13:12, 14:12, 15:12, 15:41, 16:12, 16:41, 17:12), taking around 1h40.

Weather

There will probably be no rain, few clouds and temperatures between 0º and 8º.

Safety

Please observe all laws and guidelines for preventing the spread of coronavirus. I have created this event in order to find other people keen on walking in the mountains, but I am not a guide, and each member is responsible for their own safety. You are expected to familiarise yourself with the route before registering, and only register once you are happy that you can complete it.
