Description

We’ve got some great weather, so let’s head up to one of the best viewpoints in the Voralpen. There’s a nice hut on top for lunch too! The route is only a suggestion, and we could well include Wildalpjoch too, and finish in either Bayrischzell or Flintsbach/Brannenburg.

Kit list

This is what I am bringing; your kit list should be similar.

  • sturdy hiking boots, ideally waterproof
  • spikes (in case of icy sections)
  • walking poles
  • gaiters
  • gloves
  • FFP2 mask
  • head torch
  • first aid kit, survival bag/emergency bivvy
  • snacks
  • cash (for lunch, and for the train ticket if you’d rather not use PayPal/bank transfer)
  • more snacks
  • water (at least 2 ℓ)
  • Alpenverein membership, or similar insurance
  • ID (required for the train ticket and validating 3G)
  • 3G proof (for the hut)
  • waterproofs (jacket, optional trousers)
  • warm layers
  • sunglasses

  • towel and swimwear (if you’re feeling brave)
  • phone (please save my number +49 163 2658919/WhatsApp/Facebook Messenger), extra battery
  • map (downloaded to your phone with the route, e.g. with Mapy.cz; or on paper)
  • mat to sit on (optional)

Transport

We are taking the train from München Hauptbahnhof, with either a Guten Tag, Oberland-MVV or Bayern Ticket. This will cost up to €13.

Return:

  • Bayrischzell – Munich Hbf (xx:03, taking 89 mins)
  • Flintsbach (xx:16 ± 2 min, taking ~62 mins).
  • Brannenburg (xx:18 ± 2 min, taking ~60 mins).

Weather

It looks like it will be very sunny. Please come prepared for a change in the weather though. Current webcam: Wendelstein.

Safety

Please observe all laws and guidelines for preventing the spread of coronavirus. I have created this event in order to find other people keen on walking in the mountains, but I am not a guide, and each member is responsible for their own safety. You are expected to familiarise yourself with the route before registering, and only register once you are happy that you can complete it.

Hi Charlie, is it OK if I meet you at Bayerischzell? I will be staying there over the weekend. I can make my own travel arrangements back to Munich too.
