Description

The Ebner Joch (1957 m) is a superb panoramic peak with great views of Achensee, Rofan, Karwendel and the Inn valley. It is quite easy to reach via the Berggasthof Astenau Alpe (1483 m), at which we will stop off on the way back down. At the end, we may also visit the Achensee for a swim.

Weather forecasts for Monday vary, but there may well be thunderstorms in the afternoon, which is why the start time is so early. On Saturday or Sunday I may make the meeting time later if the forecast is looking better. That said, please bring waterproofs in case the weather does turn early.

  • hiking boots
  • head torch
  • first aid kit, survival bag
  • snacks
  • lunch
  • cash to cover drinks
  • more snacks
  • water (1.5 ℓ)
  • Alpenverein membership, or similar insurance
  • walking poles, if you have them
  • waterproofs (jacket, trousers, bag cover/liner)
  • warmth (fleece)
  • woolly hat, gloves
  • towel (for swimming, or for hitch-hiking if things go very wrong)
  • sunglasses and sun cream
  • passport/EU ID card (we are crossing into Austria)

  • map (downloaded to your phone with the route, e.g. with ViewRanger, or on paper)

Transport

This is a carpool event, so please see the carpool tab to register for a car and to find out when and where to meet. The parking should cost €4 for the day in Eben am Achensee.
