This hike on in Berchtesgadener Alps is one of the most famous hike in Bavariva due to "Schellenberger Ice Cave" - Germany's largest ice cave. This can be explored during a guided tour.

In the summer months there are 40-minute guided tours through the ice cave every hour between 10am and 4pm.

Hiking path: The path on the ground is not always visible. Exposed areas can be secured with ropes or chains. Maybe you need your hands for balance. Partially exposed areas with danger of falling, screes, pathless crags.

Experience level: Good surefootedness. Good trekking shoes. Average orientation skills. Elementary alpine experience.

By public transport: Take the train from Munich to Salzburg main station, and then a bus 840 to "Eishöhle". 

By car: There is a parking lot at "Schellenberger Eishöhle". Use this address for navigation: Hauptstraße 15, 83487 Marktschellenberg.
