Route Information
This circular route leads from Rattenberg—often called Austria’s smallest town with quite some medieval charm and colorful facades.
We hike north towards the Krummsee in Kramsach and and leads across wooded ridges to a striking double peak high above the Inn Valley: the Voldöpper Spitze at 1,509 m. We first walk briefly on a forest road, later continue on a trail to the summit.
Despite its moderate altitude, the Voldöpper Spitze offers a surprisingly expansive panorama stretching as far as the Hohe Tauern mountain range. Particularly captivating are the views down to Brandenberg and the unobstructed vista towards the Rofan mountains, with the Guffert as a prominent landmark. All summit climbers still have the possibility to climb the neighboring summit on the Brandenberg side in just 5 minutes on foot.
From here, we descend along the eastern side into a completely different landscape—lush, green, and dotted with pristine alpine lakes. Our first stop is the Berglsteinersee, a small emerald lake surrounded by dense forest and steep rock walls, one of the most picturesque spots in the region and perfect for a peaceful break.
Continuing on, we reach the larger and more open Reintaler See, known for its crystal-clear waters and stunning mountain backdrop. Here, there’s time to relax, we can get a coffee and cake and enjoy the scenery.
The route then loops gently back toward Rattenberg, passing through traditional Tyrolean landscapes—meadows, farmhouses, and quiet paths—offering a complete and varied hiking experience
