The route starts in Plužine municipality on the western edge of Piva Nature Park and climbs north to Veliki Vitao (2,028m), a summit on the park's upper plateau. From there the trail traverses east along the high ridge past Bločke grede (2,135m), the highest point of the loop, crossing open karst terrain with views toward the Piva reservoir below.
The descent runs south through the interior of the nature park, passing through remote pastoral terrain before dropping steeply toward Zavišće near the canyon floor at approximately 1,100m. The significant elevation loss on the final section reflects the dramatic relief of the Piva Canyon, one of the deepest river gorges in the Balkans.
