The route starts along the R-16 road in Šavnik municipality and climbs northwest through Samar onto the high Durmitor plateau. It passes Planinarski Dom Škrka, a mountain hut beside the Škrka glacial lakes, before ascending to Prutaš (2,393m), a prominent summit on the western flank of the Durmitor massif.

From Prutaš the trail descends south through Škrčko žrdijelo (2,116m), a narrow rocky passage, then continues via Žlijeb across open high-altitude terrain before dropping back to the road. The route stays above 2,000m for much of its central section, with the Bobotov Kuk massif visible to the east throughout.
