Gossau SG07:51Wasserauen08:43ab Gl. 11, S23 Richtung Wasserauen

Hike up the Säntis from Wasserauen

The tour starts from Wasserauen by cable car up to the Ebenalp. From there via Aescher, Schäfler and the Lisengrat up to the Säntis (2502 m). Afterwards down over the Rotsteinpass to the Meglisalp and back via the Seealpsee. To finish off, there's a refreshing swim in the lake before heading back down to Wasserauen.

Start: 08:45 at Wasserauen train station

Example connection from Zurich HB:

Gossau SG07:51Wasserauen08:43Platform 11, S23 towards Wasserauen

If you're travelling from a different direction, please find your own connection arriving in Wasserauen by 08:45 at the latest.

Important: The Säntis-Schwebebahn cable car from Schwägalp is currently out of service due to the rebuild (until late autumn 2026) – we should take advantage of that. It won't stay this quiet up there for much longer. Unfortunately, there's no shortcut by cable car this year.

The section between the Säntis and the Rotsteinpass (Lisengrat) is exposed, but fully secured with steel cables throughout. A head for heights and sure-footedness are required.

Along the way there are several nice spots for a picnic from the backpack, as well as a few mountain inns to stop at.
