We will drive to Compatsch on Saturday morning and park at our hotel. From there, we will take the public bus to Saltria. The bus costs approximately €4 per person and normally runs every 20 minutes.

From Saltria, we will begin the hike to Rifugio Vicenza, also known as Langkofelhütte. This section is approximately 6.5 km long, with around 650 metres of elevation gain, and should take about two hours.

At the hut, we will take a short break for snacks, drinks and a final equipment check. From Rifugio Vicenza, we will continue towards the entrance of the Oscar Schuster Klettersteig. The approach from the hut to the start of the via ferrata should take approximately 45 minutes.

The Oscar Schuster Klettersteig is graded B/C and should take around two hours to complete. The route leads towards the summit of Sasso Piatto, also known as Plattkofel, where we can enjoy the panoramic views before beginning the descent.

The descent from the summit back towards Saltria should take approximately two hours. Once we reach Saltria, we will take the bus back to Compatsch and return to the hotel for dinner and a well-earned night’s sleep.

• Hut to via ferrata entrance: 45 minutes

• Oscar Schuster Klettersteig: 2 hours

• Descent to Saltria: 2 hours
