Let's hike to Hochkalter, one of the highest peaks of Germany, in the mountain range next to Watzmann.
We will have a break at Blaueishütte, and optionally swim in the cold Hintersee after the hike.
Steinberg is optional if you think 2300m gain is too much for you.
Don't make plans for the evening as the traffic is not predictable.
Participants with <1500points, no hikes >=T4 or less than 5hikes in the profile must send me their experience and fitness level when joining. Otherwise they will be removed.
Technical Difficulty: This hike is only suitable for experienced and fit hikers, with excellent stamina. You have to be surefooted and not have fear of heights. You should have experience with UIAA II scrambling, not be slow (>=500m gain/hour), and a pace of at least 6km/h in the flat parts.
Weather forecast dry and sunny, in the afternoon a few clouds
Transport: We will go by car as the starting point is not easily accessible by public transport. We'll share the car expenses. The driver(s) may require passengers to pay in advance. Please read the car instructions carefully. If the hike or lift is cancelled or postponed, the drivers must reimburse the prepaid payments. Otherwise a passenger dropping out before departure must only be reimbursed if the driver can find a replacement. Car drivers must contact me first if they drop out.
Drivers: Drivers should check whether all passenger fulfil the mandatory conditions (see below) and reject those who don't.
Legal disclaimer: This is not a guided tour. I merely organize the trip to the starting point with like-minded, qualified, properly equipped and reliable persons. Every participant must be able to navigate her/himself on the suggested route. If you join, you acknowledge that hiking is dangerous, you are fully responsible for yourself and that you have sufficient insurance (DAV, Bergrettung or similar).
