Hey guys,


I want to do a quick speed-hike to Heimgarten after work.

We shall meet at the parking lot at the end of Ohlstadt (Heimgarten-Wanderparkplatz 2 Ohlstadt), where the hike starts and ends as well. So you can either go with train to Ohlstadt Bahnhof and reach it from there, or you can use your car/bike. Time of meeting is negotiable, but we shouldn't start much later than 18:00.


I want to do it as a condition training, thus keeping very high speed and minimal pauses, until the summit. Aim is to reach the peak in less than 1,5 hours from the parking lot. Thus, a combination of fast hike and from time to time light trail-run is to be expected. The terrain is fairly easy, which allows for such speed, both ways.


While the hike is quite easy, the tempo is not going to be beginner friendly.

If there would be still people interested, who want to go slower, we may do faster and slower group. Just make a good time estimate, so that you can also reach back from the hike in time that suits you.

Good to know

Please bring proper shoes (trail-runners if you plan going faster, or hiking shoes), clothing, and backpack, based on weather forecast and your hiking style. Also, based on your expected tempo, bring some water and food/snack. There is, however, in about 2/3 of the way uphill a source of water, so you can refill there, both ways (as we go back the same route). Surely take a headlamp, if for any reason the hike would go beyond the sunset. Ideally, bring a first aid kit, just in case. And please download the gpx file to your device for navigation, or take a map. The path is not complicated, but there will be some alternative routes on the way, so this can help you.
