The hike is  mostly T3 and T2 on the ridge apart for a short section close to Tristkogel

Dear buddies,

let´s go this Saturday for a beautiful ridge hike crossing 5 grassy peaks in Kitzbühler Alps.

The route passes by the following peaks:
  • Rauber (1972 m)
  • Saalkogel (2006 m)
  • Tristkogel (2096 m)
  • Teufelssprung (2174 m)
  • Gamshag (2178 m)

From the car park, a few metres into the valley and at the first fork in the road, we turn left onto the gravel road, which is quite steep, up to the Kelchalm Bochumer Hütte (1432m). Already 3000 years ago, Illyrian people started mining on copper ores in the area. From 1769 to 1900, copper ores where mined on a greater scale, the ruins of some mining buildings and the old mine dumps are still visible near the trailhead. We keep going north alternating between forest and mountain meadows on the beautiful mountain path out onto the broad western ridge of the Rauber (1972m), First peak of the day. We keep hiking direction south. Back to the saddle and a few more meters southeast up to the Saalkogel with a bench next to it (2006m). Always aiming south, we go on the broad southern ridge down into the Saaljoch (1875m) At a signposted fork, turn right on the steep eastern ridge up to the summit ridge and slightly exposed over short secured passages to the beautiful summit cross on the Tristkogel (2095m). The panorama stretches from the Wilder Kaiser to the Hohe Tauern.
From the Tristkogel it's downhill again. The next destination is the wild and romantic Hochtorsee.  On the opposite side, down a steep and also briefly secured meadow path into the Tor (1933m). At the signpost, go straight on, ascending diagonally in a southerly direction to the beautifully situated Hochtorsee (2000m) with a beautiful walk around the lake. This short detour to the lake is definitely worth making!
It is no wonder that the rugged mountain landscape provides food for legends, as the name Teufelssprung suggests. We follow the path to the Teufelssprung, which leads westwards over the ridge. To the left around the deep crevice mentioned above (from where the name comes) we come to the highest point of the Teufelssprung, 2,174 m. Now we turn northwest and cross the slope, high above the Torsee, mostly along the fence to the summit of the Gamshag. The panorama at the summit is unique. From this perspective it is without question the steep flank of the Geißstein that dominates the picture.
The summit is the southern end of a 950 m long ridge, whose northern end is the Gamshag. The ridge is near level and the summits are nearly equally in height, a strange topographic feature.
The descent leads through the east side down to the southeast back to the idyllic Torsee, 1,930 m. Here we change direction again and head north towards Kechlalm to have drinks and food and finally to the cars.

I am not a professional guide, hiking can be risky. Everybody is responsible for him/herself and must familiarize with the route and its requirements. Please be punctual at the station. We dont want to get into the train last minute. It would be mabe no seats and unconfortable.
In case of problems the hike day you can contact me at 017643285424.

Looking forward to see you!! 😊
