Description

Hey everyone!

Weather looks great for the weekend, so let's try to ascend the highest summit of the Zillertaler alps; Hochfeiler / Gran Pilastro (3509 M). It's getting colder at higher altitudes, so this might be one of the last weekends for attempting the summit.

As the hike is mostly physically demanding, and does not require any glacier or climbing skills, it is a rather rewarding peak. However, the peak is still exposed, requires sure-footedness and should not be underestimated. You should have completed other T4 hikes before joining this hike.

I have reserved 3 spots (Mehrbettzimmer mit Halbpension) in the hut (Hochfeilerhütte). Price is 62 Euros as DAV member, 74 Euros as non-member. If you manage to reserve another spot, I can consider extending the group after you contacting me.

Please contact me before joining:

Please send me a message on Whatsapp (+46762009644) before joining the hike with a short description of why you have enough hiking experience for this. Also, please pay 20 Euros to me on Paypal (will send you on Whatsapp) to confirm you participation and hut place. This is equal to the cancellation fee for the hut.

Plan:

Saturday:

Leave from Munich Ost at 6:50 with BRB towards Kufstein and (after some transfers with regional trains) arrive at Angerhof, Pfitschertal around 11:45, which is the starting point of the hike.

Hike to the hut (Hochfeilerhütte). Ca 3 hours.

If we have energy, maybe to a short hike around the hut. Otherwise just enjoy the evening and get ready for the morning.

Sunday:

Leave after breakfast for the summit. Ca 3 hours.

Go down to the valley. Ca 4 hours.

Go home to Munich. Last connection is at 7 PM from Angerhof, so we have plenty of margins for delays.

Alternative travels:

I currently don't have a car, but if anyone joining the hike has and is willing to offer a drive, that alternative would be very welcome :)

Also, if there are cheap Flixbus / direct trains tickets, we can look into that too.

Costs:

As the main plan is to go with regional trains, we don't need to book tickets in advance. If you have the Deutschland-ticket, total price should be around 30 Euros for a one-way travel (Tirol + Südtirol Ticket).

Hut is not accepting card, so please bring enough cash for the hut payment (42 / 54 Euros) and extra cash for food and drinks (dinner included in hut price however!).

Things to bring:

  • Waterproof hiking boots
  • Cash for the hut
  • Passport/ID
  • Food/drinks for the way
  • Hut sleeping bag
  • Helmet (optional, can be nice for the summit)
  • All clothes and other equipment necessary for a high-alpine T4 hike, you should know this

Disclaimer: Hiking can be dangerous. I am not a mountain guide. Everybody is responsible for her/himself. Make yourself familiar with the route and its requirements. It's recommended to download a map and bring a cell phone and first aid kit for emergencies.

Comments
did same thing last weekend - all regios were fine to take, but biked from sterzing to parking lot. Very manageable to go to summit same day.
