Summer is slowly going to an end so let´s use appropriately the last warm days left before we turn towards Autumn and the first snowfalls (especially at high altitude). Let´s go for a beautiful panoramic tour that will bring us in contact with waterfalls, glaciers and gorgeous lakes in Stubaital!

We start with the imposing Grawa Waterfalls, one of the largest and most impressive ones in Tyrol. It is a waterfall with a solid structure 85 meters wide, due to its natural structure the water flows out of it in a staircase-like manner, and from a height of over 120 meters!

Along the path you can enjoy a series of viewpoints on the waterfall from big balconies! We go further up in the Sulzenautal, where magnificent views of the Grünauferner, Aperer Freiger and Sulzenauferner open up just before the Sulzenaualm. The second stage of the WildeWasserWeg leads directly from the viewing platform at the Grawa waterfall along the old alpine path: direct, steep, straightforward. Here, surefootedness, good fitness and, above all, good footwear are required due to the wetness of the ground. Along the ascent, the Grawa waterfall can be experienced up close at two further viewing points - one at the height of a turbulent stilling basin, the second directly above the exposed edge.

The end of the valley with the waterfall welcomes us like an amphitheater. Our path takes us even further up, to the Sulzenauhütte. After just over an hour's walk you reach the Sulzenegg (1800m), from where you quickly walk through the mighty valley basin, formed and dominated by the 3 waterfalls and richly branched meanders, with a view of the glacier to the Sulzenaalm. From the idyllically located alpine hut, the path leads very close to the foot of the most powerful of the 3 waterfalls - the Sulzenaufall. Like a silver arrow, the water from this unique waterfall shoots in a thin swath over 200 meters straight down to the wonderfully green alpine pasture of the Sulzenaualm.

The path continues in comfortable serpentines to the Sulzenauhütte, which stands like an eagle's nest with a great view directly above a rocky edge on a beautiful, flat ground.

We leave the Sulzenauhütte in a southwesterly direction, or rather towards Sulzenauferner. We pass the first fork in the road towards Trögler. Next we follow the sign towards Blaue Lacke and cross the stream. After the slight climbs over alpine rose-covered terrain we reach the Blaue Lacke. The colour of the lake is very striking and contrasts with the rest of the landscape! We go further up along the Lübeckerweg till we reach a turning point that brings us down to the magnificent Sulzenausee. From here the rocky path winds its way further upwards, with one or two steps secured with wire ropes. Later, the path levels off significantly as it passes through a cirque that opens up to the Peiljoch, 2,672 m, from the northwest side. A whole colony of cairns astonishes us here, but even more so is the sudden view of the gleaming, crevasse-furrowed Sulzenauferner. Due to the hundreds stonemen built along the years from the hikers the atmosphere here is unique and feels like a sort of Stonehenge in the mountains! This is absolutely worth seeing.

We finally reach Dresdner Hütte where we can eat and drink something before getting back to our cars crossing Fernautal.

I am not a professional guide, hiking can be risky. Everybody is responsible for him/herself and must familiarize with the route and its requirements. Please be punctual at the station. We dont want to get into the train last minute. It would be mabe no seats and unconfortable.
In case of problems the hike day you can contact me at 017643285424.

Looking forward to see you!! 😊

I have a question for those persons in the list of participants that are not in a car. Are you going by public transports? Just to know. That case, you would need to be there punctual because we cannot start late and this is why I'd a carpool hike. Public transports are not so reliable nowadays expecially for such a hike.

I´ll contribute with my car. I made however a mistake when putting it into the car pool: I entered 4 seats, which didn´t include the driver, so now we are 5. I would really prefer if we could be only 3 + driver, otherwise space will be really limited (especially with backpacks, etc.) and the ride might not be so comfortable. Is there a chance to accomodate one person in one of the other two cars? I would appreciate that.
