Description
The Alpspitze via ferrata is easy (mostly A/B and only a few B parts) and suitable even for via ferrata beginners, but the descent via Ostgrat and Nordwandsteig shouldn’t be underestimated: surefootedness and a head for heights are necessary!

Meeting
time: 07:20 in Munchen Hbf platform 29, RB6 departs at 07:32 to Garmisch-Partenkirchen,
where we change to Bus 2 to Kreuzeck/Alpspitzbahn.
We will then take the Kreuzeckbahn cable car on the way up (Euro 21,5 - tickets can be bought on site or in advance here: https://zugspitze.skiperformance.com/de/sommer/store#/de/sommer/buy?skugroup_id=3931) and start the hike just before 10:00.
The hike duration will be approx. 6,5-7 hours + max. 1 hour in one of the huts on the way down.
Return: last train back from Kreuzeck/Alpspitzbahn is departing at 18:37, we should aim to catch the 17:37 one.

Weather looks good for Saturday. The route could be modified or the hike could be postponed if conditions get worse.

Please unjoin well in advance, if you don't plan to come. You cannot
unjoin the event less than 12 hours before its start.

Hello, Lately, I've been eager to start doing Via Ferrata climbs. I Have done it only once a long time ago with a company, but I enjoyed the experience and had no issues with heights. Would it make sense for a complete Via Ferrata beginner like me to join your group? If not, I’d appreciate any suggestions on where to start. I already have a helmet and plan to rent the necessary Via Ferrata equipment from DAV. Thank you..

Sorry, but I'm not in the position to give you any kind of advice. You are the only one who can assess your general hiking/climbing experience, abilities, fear of heights a.s.o. If you have doubts, maybe a good idea would be to take a specialized klettersteig course first or to go with a professional guide. I would like to join this hike if there is room for one more. It sais the hike is 4/4, maybe remember me if there are any cancellations. I have experience hiking and using via ferata but first time user of harness and lanyard. I usually go without.

Hi Madelene,
I will increase the number of participants, but FYI you can join the waiting list so if someone cancel you will automatically be in the going list. Regarding the via ferrata gear, I strongly recommend everyone to have the complete equipment, than to decide on spot whether to use it or not.
