Up to Wildengundkopf, it's an easy hike and suitable for beginners who do sports on a regular basis. However, the traversal from Wildengundkopf to Waltenbergerhaus is of level T3, and requires some prior hiking experience. The path is not really difficult, but one must not be afraid of heights. The people who are not comfortable with this traversal, will have the option to come back from Wildengundkopf using the same path as taken for ascent.

Public transport: We will take RE57580 departing at 6:51 am, which will arrive Kempten at 8:22 am. From there we take RE57662 at 8:27 for Oberstdorf. Finally, from Oberstdorf, we take bus 7 for Birgsau, which is the start and endpoint of our hike. The bus ride is NOT covered by Bayern/Servus ticket.

Departure time of return connection: 17:00 (3h), 18:00 (3h15m)

Technical difficulty: The hike up to Wildengundkopf has difficulty T2. The traversal from Wildengundkopf to Waltenbergerhaus has difficulty T3. Please read the blog to understand the requirements for sac scale T2/T3.

If we opt for the traversal, then we will have lunch at Waltenbergerhaus. Since this is not fully certain, please bring enough food/drink to avoid starvation/dehydration (or if you want to avoid having lunch at the hut).

Things to bring:

• Waterproof hiking boots
• Cash for the ticket and (possibly) for the food at the hut
• Food/drinks for the way
• Warm clothes
• Headlight (just in case)
• Some tolerance for cloudy and rainy weather

Note: Please unjoin the event well in advance, if you don't plan to come. You cannot unjoin the event, when it is starting in less than 12 hours.
