Hoi hikers,


This is the second day of the Zermatt hiking weekend. First day hike is here: https://www.hiking-buddies.com/routes/events/10572/


Route description: Edelweiss Trail (Höhbalmen)


Weather forecast: Sunny, colder above 2500m. Zermatt (1608m)


Note: This hike is not suitable for beginners.


How to get there:

Journey by public transport: We start at Zermatt, not possible to get there in time from Zürich. The earliest connection arrives at 09:20. If you want to join, let me know. There is a shorter route and you can catch up.

Journey by car: Use gps. Zermatt is car-free.


Meeting point:
8:30 AM -  Zermatt youth hostel

 
Hike:
  • The hike will last ca. 7 hours with a lot of viewpoints.
  • Short lunch break at ca. halfway, on the Höhenweg.
  • The pace will be medium/fast (>= 555hm/h) with enough time to admire the landscape. In case you're not able to keep up with the pace, we might split up. 
  • Not T5 at all, it's a bug in the planner.


Equipment:

  • Proper hiking boots, poles, snacks, enough water, headlamp, proper clothes acc. to the weather, sunscreen, good mood and fitness.

Additional notes

  • The organizer is no professional guide. Participants are responsible for themselves, must do their own research about the route, and must be able to navigate by themselves (in case the groups split for some reason, for example).
  • Out of respect for the others, please be on time. If you happen to be late, contact the organizer.
  • If you have a No Show in your profile (= you did not show up to a hike you signed up to in the past), I may exclude you from the event.
  • Unjoining allowed until 12 hours before the start of the event. If you are unable to be join for whatever reason, contact the organizer.
