Description

The weather for Saturday looks absolutely sunny!

Thursday it snowed a bit again >1200m, and it's supposed to be cold, so the snow should stay!

Let's do a small (7 km) snowshoe hike to get the snowshoeing season started!

Cable car schedule:

Getting there:

  • By public transport: Bus station: Amsteg, Grund/Seilbahn.
    9:05 Zurich HB - 10:38 Amsteg, Grund/Seilbahn (every half hour)

Getting back:

  • By public transport: Amsteg, Grund/Seilbahn 15:44 - 17:25 Zurich HB (every half hour)

What to take: snowshoes, snow gaiters, warm enough clothes (layers), food, drinks, sunscreen, sunglasses.

 

Planning:

  • 10:45 parking lot
  • 10:55 take cable car up
  • 11:05 introduction round, hopefully in the sunshine
  • 11:15-12:30 snowshoe 3km to Arnisee
  • 12:30-13:00 lunch break
  • 13:00 group picture
  • 13:00-14:00 snowshoe 2.5km round to Arnisee    
  • 14:00-14:30 chill a bit in the sunshine, and more group pictures!
  • 14:30-15:15 slow pace the last 1.5km to the cable car
  • 15:25 take the cable car down
  • 15:35 parking lot
  • 15:44 take the bus

Pace: Moderate pace. I expect the hike to take ~4 hours.

Grade: Snowshoeing, physically demanding, not dangerous.
