Description

Snowshoe hike in Leukerbad (snowshoes can be rented for 20 CHF).

We take the gemmi gondala (10:30) up to gemmipass where we start our hike.

Unfortunately, the planned hiking trail is currently closed due to the risk of avalanches. But there are other winter hiking trails that are open there. I would hike these two routes as an alternative

Things to bring (mandatory):

  • Snowshoes
  • water-proof hiking boots (for snow)
  • enough water (min. 1,5l)
  • Warm clothings
  • sun protection
  • Picknick

recommended:

  • poles
  • gaiters

To those traveling by public transport: We take the train that leaves from Zurich HB at 7.02 am on track 31. We meet directly in the train in the second coach of 2nd class counting from the front (it'll be located at track 31, sector D). Be aware that there is no way to pass from the rear coaches to the three coaches in the front; you have to board the train in sector D. Everyone has to make sure to have a valid ticket until Leukerbad, Gemmi-Bahnen.
