Hike + Via Ferrata – Sunday, May 12
This Sunday I’m planning a full-day mountain outing in the Arnisee area. It’ll be a mix of hiking and (optional) via ferrata. Everyone’s welcome to join! We start with VF and then go to the hike. The route might change a bit depending on the conditions and if we want to bag more peaks.
There shouldn't be any snow on the top but there's possibility that there's some left.
Also there's a possibility that VF won't be open (I tried to contact the tourist info but got no response), in that case we just hike.
Here's the link to VF info page: https://www.bergsteigen.com/touren/klettersteig/adlerhorst-arnisee-klettersteig/
Plan:
Start/End: Arnisee (accessible by cable car from Intschi)
Hike Route: Arnisee → Sunniggrathütte → Leutschachhütte → Arnisee
Duration: ~4.5–5 hours
Elevation gain: ~850 m
A scenic medium-difficulty loop with great views and alpine huts.
Via Ferrata (optional):
Adlerhorst Klettersteig (K2–K3)
Short, scenic ferrata near the lake
Estimated time: 30–45 min (included in the hike time)
Difficulty: easy to moderate
What to bring – hike: Hiking shoes, water, lunch/snacks, warm clothing, rain jacket, sunglassess, sunscreen, trekking poles (optional), spikes (optional).
What to bring – via ferrata: Helmet, Harness, via ferrata lanyard with absorber, gloves.
Disclaimer:
This is not a guided or commercial tour. Everyone is responsible for their own safety, fitness, and equipment. Please assess your ability, especially if doing the via ferrata.
I want to take the IC2 train from Zurich HB at 7:05. Then go through Arth-Goldau > Erstfeld > Intschi.
