Alpine Tour across Daniel, Upsspitze, and Hochschrutte in the Ammergau Alps

This mountain tour across the Daniel (2,340 m), Upsspitze (2,332 m), and Hochschrutte (2,247 m) is one of the most impressive ridge traverses in the Ammergau Alps. The route lies entirely on Austrian territory and offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Außerfern region between the Loisach and Lech rivers. A particular highlight is the view of the Zugspitze from the summit of Daniel.

While many hikers end their journey at the Daniel summit, continuing on to the Upsspitze and Hochschrutte — also known as Plattberg — turns the hike into a truly unforgettable experience.

The tour requires surefootedness, good physical condition, and alpine experience. It is suitable for experienced mountain hikers seeking a challenging day tour with spectacular scenery. This route is especially rewarding for those who want to enjoy the tranquility of the Ammergau Alps away from the more frequented trails.
