Hi everyone!
To escape the heat in Munich on Saturday, I'm planning a day hike to Thaneller - a popular peak in Tirol with stunning views of Plansee, Zugspitze massif and the Allgäuer alps. The hike follows the same route as another event planned last week. This hike is only suitable for hikers with some alpine experience since this is the harder T4 route to the summit with some secured segments, scrambling and scree fields. Please assess what the route entails before joining: https://www.hiking-buddies.com/routes/routes_list/459/ .
Route on Komoot (Slightly longer than HB because some routes are mapped differently):
I would like to hike together as a group and aim to ascend at a moderate pace of ~400m/hr so that we can get back to Munich at a reasonable hour. Please keep the day free since this is a long hike. We meet at Munich Hbf, platform 29 (RB6 to Garmisch) and travel to Heiterwang-Plansee. The hike begins and ends at Heiterwang-Plansee train station.
Outgoing itinerary:
06:32 - 07:55: Munich Hbf to Garmisch-Partenkirchen (RB6)
08:04 - 08:48: Garmisch-Partenkirchen to Heiterwang-Plansee (RB60/ S7)
Return itinerary:
17:11/ 18:11 - 17:57/ 18:57: Heiterwang-Plansee to Garmisch-Partenkirchen (RB60/ S7)
18:05/ 19:05 - 19:26/ 20:26: Garmisch-Partenkirchen to Munich Hbf (RB6)
The weather looks perfect for hiking with fairly clear skies and temperatures around 15-17 deg C. As always, plans may be modified depending on the weather.
Looking forward to hiking with you'll on Saturday! :D
