I am planning an amazing two-day hiking trip to Untersberg on July 5th and 6th! Four years ago, I joined a similar hike organized by Benita and absolutely loved it. Coincidentally, just as I was thinking about doing this hut hike again, a few beds opened up at Stöhrhaus for the first weekend of July, and I booked them right away!

In brief:

On the first day, we'll catch a train BRB RE5 from platform 10 at 6:55 am, change at Freilassing to S4 towards Berchtesgaden. We will hike up to Stöhrhaus from Bischofwiesen, approximately 1,300 meters uphill (Note: depending on the weather conditions, I may adjust the ascent route).

I'd like to maintain a moderate pace, around 350 to 400 meters per hour. After dinner, we’ll head out for a relaxing evening walk to enjoy the sunset from Berchtesgadener Hochthron.

On the second day, we'll explore some cool caves around Untersberg. We'll check out one right next to our hut, another at Mittagsscharte, and Germany’s only ice cave, the Schellenberger Ice Cave (45 to 50-minute guided tours every hour, starting at the top of the hour). Afterwards, we'll hike down through Toni Lenz Hütte towards Markt Schellenberg, then hop on the bus+train back to Munich.

We'll spend the night at the Stöhrhaus, where 4 beds in a shared room and 2 beds in mattress camp are currently available (booked by me) (23 euros for DAV members; 42 euros for non-DAV members).

To secure your sleeping place/ bed at the hut (which I have booked), I'm requesting a transfer of €15 to cover potential cancellation fees (refunded on the day of the hike). Once you've joined the hike, please message me through the Hiking Buddies platform, and I'll share my PayPal details.

As soon as we have everyone confirmed, we'll set up a WhatsApp group to coordinate.
