Description
It is glacier time! Let's go look at one!
(Note, the weather forecast is somewhat unstable. If it's all thunderstormy Saturday, we'll postpone the hike.)
Meeting point and time: 10:15 Grimsel, Hospiz but the bottom of the dam
Getting there
- By car: Navigate using Google maps to Grimsel, Hospiz. Parking available.

- By public transport: Zurich HB 7:10
- Closer bus stop to bottom of dam: Grimsel, Summerloch
Getting back
- By public transport: Very last bus at 17:42! It is unlikely that we have finished the hike by then, so either (1) find a spot in a car back, or (2) turn back earlier!
What to take: 3+ liters of water, hiking shoes, layers of clothing, lunch, snacks, sunscreen, sunglasses, a good mood!
Pace: Moderate-fast pace
Schedule
- 10:15-10:30 introduction round
- 10:30-13:00 hike 9 km past the lake to the climb
- 13:00-13:15 quick lunch break
- 13:15-14:30 hike 500 elevation up to the hut
- 14:30-15:00 enjoy time at the hut
- 15:00-18:30 hike back

I added the car to the pool. Leaving at 8:00 is a bit at the limit but it would match you train schedule.
