Description

Allegra hikers,

This is the second day of the Engadin hiking weekend.

Day 1: https://www.hiking-buddies.com/routes/events/11731/

Day 3: https://www.hiking-buddies.com/routes/events/11733/

As Engadin is quite far from Zürich, I organise this a long hiking weekend, with an overnight in the Pontresina Youth Hostel.  Everyone shall book and pay their accomodation individually. There is an option for booking a dinner too, I recommend that. Dinner time is 18-19:30.

Pro tip: 15% discount with Transa card

If you spend more than 1 night in Engadin, you get a free ticket to the regional cable cars and public transport.

Hotel & Public Transport included Summer

Hotel & Mountain Railways included

Of course it's possible to join for only 1 day too.

On day 2 we hike up to the famous Piz Julier then to the Piz Nair.

Weather forecast: hopefully good. In case of not suitable weather, I may change the route.

Note: This hike is not suitable for beginners and requires T4 experience.

How to get there:

We start from Pontresina at 08:01 AM. It's not possible to get there in time from Zürich by public transport.

Journey by car: Use gps.

Meeting point:
08:30 AM -  St. Moritz Bad, Signalbahn bus stop, where we take the cable car.

Hike:
  • The hike will last ca. 7 hours with a lot of viewpoints.
  • Short lunch break at the Piz Julier.
  • The pace will be medium/fast (>= 600 hm/h) with enough time to admire the landscape. In case you're not able to keep up with the pace, we might split up.
