The route passes by the following peaks:
-------
This one is a classic. We will meet in Wasserauen at the cable car station and go up to Ebenalp (12 CHF with Halbtax/GA) and start our hike from there via Schäfler to the highest peak of Alpstein, Säntis. On the way we will have a great view on all surrounding peaks and the region of Appenzell. We will have lunch just before the final ascent to Säntis.
The last 150m are a bit exposed (Still T3). There will be metal ropes almost all the way up but you should be confident with exposed terrain when going up the "Himmelsleiter".
Once we arrived, the hike is over and we can have a drink at the restaurant on Säntis and take the cable car (19 CHF with Halbtax/GA) down to Schwägalp from where we can take the bus 791 back. Of course you are free to walk down but I don't recommend it as the terrain is very steep and quite long.
Bonus: depending on how we do timewise and how we feel, we might add an extra loop to Lisengrat (there and back) - a beautiful ridge connecting Säntis to Rotsteinpass.
Pace will be easy/moderate however you need some condition for the ascent and should not be scared of height or exposed terrain.
