Next Saturday looks good for now.
Let's hike a forgotten path in Leichtaler Alps! Last time I was near Plansee was ages ago and next sunny Saturday looks inviting.
Important details:
We meet at 6.15 on the platform 29 at Munich Hbf, and take the RB6/60/5608 train at 6:32 to Bichelbach Amlkopfbahn.
From there we head out to Schärtle, after reaching we will have a lunch with a view of the Heiterwanger see and plansee and then descend to the Heiterwang near Hotel Fischer am See.
Return: at 17:11 from Heiterwang-Plansee to Munich Hbf with S 7 / RB 60 (5527).
Alternative the lastest at 18:11, as I would like to be by 9pm the latest in Munich.
Important - this is not an easy hike!!! You need to have the experience, stamina and sure-footedness to do it.
After traversing this part of Ammergau Alps we will have time to relax near the lake so bring your swimsuit 👙 if you want to go for a swim.
Weather forecast:
For now it is sunny 12-20°C
If the weather conditions change, I might look a more easier one around the Heiterwanger or Plansee lake.
Not a beginner friendly hike.
Sure-footedness, stamina to have a moderate pace continuously (between 300-400hm) is required so that we have time to have a swim in the lake afterwards.
Please download the gpx track and make yourself familiar with the route!
Also bring the usual with you for the tour:
- passport/ ID as we are crossing the border (hike is in Austria)
My expectation is you know what you need for a safe & enjoyable hike - proper clothes for the weather, hiking shoes, hiking poles, DAV insurance, small first aid kid, sunglasses, sun cream, good spirits & enough snacks and water to keep you fuelled for the hike.
There are no huts on the way, so make sure you have at least 2 - 2,5l water for the sunny day, enough electrolites, snacks to fuel you on the way.
Save the emergency number for Austria: 140; general EU 112 in your smartphone just in case.
Also:
If you do not plan to come, please unjoin the hike at least 13 hours before the start as on the mark of 12 hours you are automatically assigned to the hike(so that those who can and are who are waitlisted can join instead)
