Ruby, Ruby, oh Rubihorn...
I miss the Allgäu Alps and weather looks promising next Saturday, so I want to do this loop after so long time.
I would also like to have a break at upper Gaisalpsee chill and enjoy the views before reaching Nebelhorn and descending down to Edmund-Probst Haus long way down to Obertsdorf. If you want to have dip in the lake, bring either extra pair of shorts/swimsuit and towel.
Important:
Meet up at 07:05, Munich Hbf Pl.29 and we take the RE76(7874) at 07:13 to Oberstdorf; arrive around 9:47 am, Pl.2.
It is a long hike but I would like to reach the 16:25 or the latest 18:25h towards Munich RE76 as I would like to be in Munich by 9pm.
Aim Return at 16:25h with RE76 from Oberstdorf to Munich Hbf; alternative 18:25h; as I'd like to be in Munich by 9pm. General FYI last return from Obertstdorf to Munich: 20:24.
You know the drill:
This is a medium+ hike, and NOT suitable for beginners or people that have fear of heights. You need to have the stamina to do the loop, and the gain.
If you can't make it, please unjoin 12,5 hours prior to the event, as you won't be able to unjoin 12 hours prior the event anymore. No shows will be shown in your review.
Weather forecast for 19.7.2025: 11-24C with beautiful 15h of sun.
Hike might be cancelled or adapted if the weather changes.
In the words of super old JLo's song - I ain't your mama - and I am not a mountain guide, hiking is dangerous, make sure you are aware of the risks & do your due diligence to prep yourself for a pleasant hiking experience. ✌🏼
Disclaimer: 'm not a professional mountain guide. Each participant is responsible for himself and has to be prepared, bring suitable equipment and has to check if she/he meets the physical requirements. Hiking includes a certain risk and everybody is responsible for his/her own safety.
Read the route description and get yourself familiar with it. Please download the gpx map.
Bring the usual:
My expectation is you know what you need for a safe & enjoyable hike - proper clothes for the weather, hiking shoes, hiking poles, DAV insurance, small first aid kid, sunglasses, suncream, good spirits & enough snacks and water to keep you fuelled for the hike.
Noone likes a hangry buddy. ;)
Please download the gpx and inform yourself about the route beforehand (check the older events with Rubihorn and Nebelhorn)
For longer hikes it is also good to have a small power bank or charger so you have a way of showing your ticket when coming back.
As weather in the mountains can change rapidly - it is advisable to bring a rainjacket/rain ponchojust just in case.
