Finally after a long time that looked like Autumn, Summer is coming back tomorrow!! :)
Let´s go for a hike. Last minute plan to a pleasant summit in a striking landscape. The Höllkopf is a relatively not famous peak in Meminger Mountains area, that offers impressive views of the wild southern face of the Grünstein.
The hiking trail to the Höllkopf begins right next to the Marienberg lift station. We walk uphill to the wide Marienbergjoch pass with the former Marienberghaus. Here we immediately admire a magnificent view southwards, all the way to the Central Alps. Now we have to be a little careful, as we turn left at the pass onto a rather poorly visible trail. We hike beneath the southern cliffs of the Marienbergspitze, between mountain pines and across meadows, to a small valley. The path climbs up through the valley and continues past several large boulders. Finally, we reach the Hölltörl, directly beneath the mighty Grünstein. At the signpost in the Hölltörl, we turn right. Again, caution is required, as we follow the trail up to the Höllkopf, with no markings. At the top, we can already see the summit cross on the left. After just ten minutes, we reach the Höllkopf, which offers a great view. The southern faces of the Marienbergspitzen and Grünstein peaks are pretty impressive, to the east, we can see the Wankspitze and several other Mieming peaks; to the south, we look across the Inn Valley to the giant glaciers of the Stubai and Ötztal Alps. Here, we can relax and rest in the sun. Then, we hike back to the Marienbergjoch along the path we already knew from the ascent, beneath the rock faces, and have now earned a stop at the Sunnalm or Marienbergalm. The view from the terrace is magnificent. We then hike towards North through the forest direction Ehrwald having a beautiful view of the valley and surrounding mountains always in front of us!
