Hello together,
I would like to do a 100k Mammutmarsch Munich 2025 event this year post my Alps vacay.
It looks like a fairly fun adventure with all included: excitement if the weather in September will be okay-ish, fun group activity, dash of suffering and questioning your life choices & decision making for this weekend but overall it is testing one's stamina, boundaries and mindset with snacks along the way. :)
Seems like a cool challenge and it is easier when shared :D
Purchase your ticket here > https://mammutmarsch.de/100-km-marsch/muenchen/
Date: September 13, 2025
Time: In starting groups, expected between 11:00 a.m. and 1:20 p.m.
As early bird I am naturally navigating to 11:00 am group but we can also discuss it within the group.
The starting groups will be announced a few weeks before the event, and you can then choose your group.
Start & Finish Location: Planegg-Krailling Gymnastics Club, Am Sportplatz 1, 82152 Krailling
Important: There are various check points along the way and possibility to opt out if you get hurt, blisters etc, so it is a safe long-distance trekking event.
Please have in mind you should at least have experience with 20 to 30km treks as a good start or if you want to start training for it, you could do daily 10km and slowly go up to 30km on the weekends before the event. It is not about a speed here but endurance.
Bottom line, if you are an active hiker it should be doable for you, might just feel your knees after 30km because it hits differently than in the mountains as there is not such a delta with ascent/descent ;)
Also important - I am not a mountain/trekking guide, I am just here to perhaps inspire and invite you to another adventure where we talk about mountain experience and do something different on the weekend to push our boundaries (physically and mentally).
It is a completely different experience level of doing 100km in one go to doing a challenging hike. Different vibes and challenge yet similar satisfying I'd say.
We are in for the long haul and safe approach to Long-distance trekking with focus to complete the course!
Think light & dinamite as proper preparation prevents poor performance, you want to have max 5kg carrying weight on your back to keep it enjoyable, the water and food you will get on check points so no stress about fuelling your body :)
