Dear fellow Hiking Buddies :-),
Let's do a hiking classic coming Saturday - the famous and absolutely stunning 5-lakes-hike in the Pizol region. Please note that the tour will go the other way round, i.e. starting at Gaffia and ending at Pizol Hütte (941m up and 586m down). This will help us to reduce the strain on the knees and we won't walk the same direction like the majority of the other hikers (and I was too lazy to create an own GPX-File ;-)). Furthermore, if the hiking group agrees and time allows for it, we can do a nice detour to the peak of Pizol. This will be determined on the hike, but please do your own research already before the hike to be in a position to make an informed decision on the day. To get a better feeling for this tour, please use the following link: Hike to Pizol.
Meeting point and time
Meeting point for the hike is at the valley station of the gondola station of the Pizolbahn in Wangs (Starting Point, not in Bad Ragaz!) 09:30. This will allow for the following connection per public transport from Zurich HB:
Alternatively, there are also parking spots at the meeting point. Hence, I will enable the car pooling option. If you choose to come by public transport, please join by creating a fake car pool without possibility for other people to join.
Last but not least, please note that you will need a ticket for the gondola and chairlift, which costs CHF 54.- (full price) or CHF 27.- (with GA/Halbtax). To ensure that we do not lose too much time at the beginning of the hike, please buy the ticket in advance online using the following link: Tickets.
Difficulty
T2 for the 5-lakes-hike and T4 for the detour to Pizol (Detailed descriptions of the hiking grades can be found here: Hiking Grades)
Equipment
Pace
Medium pace at around 400m/h.
