Description

I have a soft spot for Karwendelgebirge and in September nothing beats a peak panorama with autumn flair <3

Important: Weather forecast for Saturday has changed - it will be about 8-12C, somewhat light wind  and there is a good chance of light rain in the afternoon around 15h. So an autumn hike indeed. Dress accordingly.

If the weather really gets bad, I will cancel or postpone the hike.

Early bird gets to enjoy more time on the mountain, less overcrowded moments aaaand if DB surprises again with some of the train delays to Lenggries - there is always time for extra coffee and some cake takeaway to enjoy up on the peak.

The orga/ logistics stuff:

Train Muc > Lenggries> Bergbus Lengriess to bus stop Aufstieg Tölzer Hütte.
We meet and greet at Munich Hbf, Platform tbd, hop onto BRB to Lenggries, take the bus to Eng and begin the hike at 8.51.
Return goal is 16.49 but since it is weekend ther are also some fall back connections.

More details bellow:
----

München Hbf Gl.27-36 Pl 34 meet up at 6:50, trains leaves at 07:02
BRB RB56 (86853) to Lenggries 07:02 - 08:11
Bergbuss Lengriess - Aufstieg Tölzer Hütte bus stop  08:18 - 8:51

Return
Bergbus Lengriess > Lenggries >Train Muc
Return connection > Aim 16.49; fallback 17.54 and last call 18.59 from Aufstieg Tölzer Hütte bus stop with bergbus.
Always good to be at least 15min before the bus as sometimes it leaves earlier....

Train Lengriess to Munich > Aim 17.47, fall back: 18.47, 19.47

I would like to be in Munich around 8pm the latest.
Good to know

Pace wise I'd like to have moderate pace  so we have some more time to enjoy the view up.

This is not a beginners hike. There are some rather exposed sections and prior experience with adequate fitness level is a required.

Technical difficulty: The hike has difficulty T4 , please read the blog to understand the requirements for sac scale T4. Sure footedness and no fear of height is required.

Optionally is to go to Delpsjoch only,  if the more exposed area around Schafreuter is not your cup of tea and wait of us at the hut then.

---

Things to bring:

  • Hiking boots
  • hiking poles (recommended, optional)
  • Cash for the hut, if you plan to have something at the hut on way down
  • Passport/ID since we are crossing the border
  • Pack always a rainjacket as the weather in the alps can switfly change
  • DAV insurance
  • Powerbank for your phone
  • Deutschland ticket
  • Food/drinks for the way (1.5 L water  recommendation and snacks to fuel you.  You won't starve as there is a hut up but getting low sugar levels and being a tad moody probably won't make you the favourite buddy so bring enough water and snacks with ya to fuel you :) )
  • Proper Clothes - please think in layers ( onion principle i.e. have next to t-shirt a fleece/rain/wind jacket if it gets cold when cooling down and taking a break)
  • Sunscreen/ lip balm, sunglasses / hat or buff is recommended
  • + luxury items: pair of socks and a tshirt to change afterwards
  • First aid kit
  • Please downloaded gpx track to your phone and make yourself familiar with the route.
  • Save the general 112 emergency call number for Europe/Alps as a reliable option for any given situation when hiking

Please be mindful and assess accordingly - You know yourself the best, be honest if you can do such a hike or not.

Regarding the pace - a moderate steady one. Important is to have the group or your buddies in sight.

If you like to run up or down, also fine, just remember we are a team and it is always good to have each other in sight and if needed give a helping hand on some sections.

hi guys, just an update as I am not sure if you all got the email so I am placing it here as well: Weather forecast for Saturday has changed - it will be about 8-12 C, somewhat light windy now and then on the peaks, and there is a good chance of light rain in the afternoon around 15h. So an autumn hike indeed. ;) Dress accordingly and see ya Saturday.

I'll come by car, starting from Unterhaching at 7:25. let me know if you need a lift. I consider visiting Ahornboden (autumn maple trees) after the hike.

Hey guys , someone dropped out a few hours ago and I didn’t realize the system automatically added me, and then I couldn’t remove myself anymore... I really tried to make it work, but unfortunately I won’t be able to join tomorrow, so I’ll have to pass. If someone from the waiting list would like to take the spot, that’d be perfect. Thanks a lot and have a great hike! 🏔️
