It's gonna be a rainy weekend north of the alps, but the south looks sunny!

Le'ts therefore hike up San Salvatore and along the ridge to Morcote.


The train leaves Zurich HB at 7:15 and arrives in Lugano at 9:28.


Route with alternative if you want to skip certain parts:

From Lugano via San Salvatore to Morcote

Part 1: Through Lugano and along the lake

  • Alternative: Take the train to Paradiso and skip the nice town. [Link]

Part 2: Hike up San Salvatore. Nice view points and popular restaurant on top.

  • Alternative if you want to skip the ascent: Take the funicular [Link]

Part 3: Along the mountain to Morcote. Nice forrest, some houses, a botanical park and a long stair like path down.

  • Shorter alternative: Take the path down from Carona to Melide

Way back: By bus to Melide and then by train to Lugano. Alternative: Boat


Pace: Moderate (one should be in a good physical shape) Everyone should have: Hiking shoes, proper clothes, food, water, sunscreen. Everyone joins at their own responsibility.
