Route: We ascend from Sargans to Gonzen, and then descend to Mels. Please have the route downloaded on your phone in case we split, the recommended app is SwissTopo: https://swisstopo.app/i/5/WZCQ8UC4 .
Conditions: According to SwissTopo there should be no snow on the route.
Pace: With multiplier approximately 1.2x compared to the SwissTopo time. This hike is not suitable for beginners.Starting point: Sargans, Römerweg bus stop
End point: Mels train station
How to get there: Train IC3 from Zurich HB departs at 8:07. Change in Sagans to bus B 400. https://a.sbbmobile.ch/s/6ul22K8C
How to get back: Train/bus from Mels. There are 3 connections per hour.
What to take: Regular hiking equipment, in particular comfortable shoes (hiking boots or trail running shoes); food - we’ll have picnic lunch somewhere on the way; wind-resistant layers - there's some wind predicted at higher altitudes; additional warmer clothing; water; sunscreen; sunglasses.
Photos: I might take photos during the hike that might afterwards be shared on the HB group. If you don't want to be on the pictures, please let me know in advance. I will also create a Google Photos album and asked everyone to contribute their photos.
