Winter is here, let’s enjoy the snowy season!
The weather forecast for Saturday looks nice, so let’s grab our spikes and gaiters and conquer one of the lower and lesser known mountains in Chiemgau. The peaks offer great views nonetheless and there should be no snowfall.
This is a hike with mostly moderate difficulty (T2), only a some short sections are of medium difficulty (T3). If you’re not familiar with the hiking scale, have a look at https://www.hiking-buddies.com/blog/2018/07/02/sac-hiking-scale/ The webcams show snow starting from the valley, so the actual difficulty might be higher.
There are two huts on the descent where we can have a short break if time allows.
Expected pace is around 400m of ascent per hour. Please only join if you think that you can handle this pace and distance in winterly conditions.
Remember to bring:
I’m planning to take this connection from Ostbahnhof (RB54 on pl. 8), train starts at 7:50
If you want to join from Hauptbahnhof, get on the RB54 on pl. 7, train starts at 7:38
I’d like to return with the 14:00 bus. If we miss that one, there is another at 16:00 or we just walk to Brannenburg. In any case, we should arrive in Munich before 18:00 unless there is a disruption.
I will add a WhatsApp group later.
