Considering the great weather forecast and the cable car opening to Osterfelderkopf on the 20th, it's time to pay the Alpspitze a visit in winter again

Meeting point:

21.12, 6:15, HBF München, platform 29

we'll catch the RB6/RB64 ( 6:32 ) to Garmisch/Alpspitzbahn Bahn and use the cable car to Osterfelderkopf

from there up the ferrata to the summit

then down the east ridge to the saddle below the Bernadeikopf, down the Schöngänge Ferrata ( grade B or so ) and back up to Osterfelderkopf cable car station along the skiing slope

( we don't take the Nordwandsteig as marked in the GPX track since the tunnel will be full of snow )

Warning:

this is not a beginner's hike!

experience with crampons and an ice pick is a must

you must be comfortable to down climb steep snow slopes completely unsecured

( most cables especially in the Schöngänge will probably be covered by snow and ice + I think we might need to break the trail in the Schöngänge anyway )

Equipment to bring:

- crampons

- ice pick

- harness

- ferrata set

- helmet

- poles

- warm clothes/snacks/drinks

- Deutschlandticket or sth similar

- enough cash/credit for the cable car ( should be around 35€ in total )

PS:

no rental gear ... if you show up in rental gear I unfortunately have to assume you lack the experience required
