Description
Winter hike to Vorderegg and Weissenberge from Matt (Ct. GL)
Level medium/easy, for fit beginners, 1'000m uphill elevation, 16km length
The weather is promised to be mostly sunny and mild on Saturday.
There will be some snow on the top, but probably not much. I expect to find the path partially muddy and slippery.
Start from Matt (Seilbahn) at 09:50 am.
By public transportation:
- IR 35 Zürich 08:12 - Ziegelbrücke 08:58
- S6 Ziegelbrücke 09:02 - Schwanden GL 09:24
- B541 Schwanden GL 09:28 - Matt Dorf 09:43
- Matt Dorf, 185 m walking to Matt Gondelstation
By car: free parking at Matt Gondelstation
Difficulty: T2, not T1.
Pace: ~300/350 uphill meters per hour.
If you come by public transportation, click on "Carpool" and "Add Car", and add the train as a car.
Recommended gear: Hiking shoes/boots; dress in layers; sunscreen; hiking poles.
