Lechtaler Alpen: Galtjoch 2109m und Abendspitze 1962m (Schneeschuhe Wanderung, WT2)
I would like to do a snowshoe tour in the Lechtal Alps (according to other hiking buddies, the route can also be done as a ski tour).
The temperature will be around –8°C, so please be prepared for this both physically and mentally.
A break at a hut is not necessary, but if we feel like it, it could be nice.
Please bring cash for the bus, as the connection to/from Rinnen (Tyrol) is not included in the Deutschland Ticket.

Dear participants/potential Teilnehmer,
thank you for your interest in the snow shoe tour to Galtjoch (2,109 m) and Abendspitze (1,962 m).
Please note that this tour might be quite challenging in winter and requires stamina and a good level of fitness, as well as appropriate additional equipment such as snowshoes, gaiters, and spikes. Snow is expected in the coming days, and without snowshoes the tour may not be doable.
Please make sure to arrange the required equipment in advance; there is sufficient time to do so. If you do not have the necessary equipment, please feel free to withdraw from the event.

upd 09.01.2026:
Lechtaler Alpen Ost, Lawinengefahr (3).
Schneedeckenaufbau
Der Wind bläst stark. Es fielen 15 bis 25 cm Schnee, lokal auch mehr.
Neu- und Triebschnee liegen verbreitet auf einer schwachen Altschneedecke.
Steile Nordhänge: Die Altschneedecke ist sehr schwach, mit einer lockeren Oberfläche aus Oberflächenreif und kantig aufgebauten Kristallen.
Steile Ost-, Süd- und Westhänge: Die Altschneedecke ist kantig aufgebaut, mit einer kaum tragfähigen Kruste an der Oberfläche.
Tendenz
Die Lawinengefahr steigt innerhalb der Gefahrenstufe an.

Dear participants,
due to a large amount of new snow and an avalanche danger level 3 in the Lechtal Alps, I have to postpone this tour. Safety first.
The logistical details will be announced a couple of days before the rescheduled event.
As an alternative, I am considering a tour in the Ammergau Alps for tomorrow.

Upd: Ich habe die Hütte angerufen und mich nach den Bedingungen erkundigt. Der Pächter meinte, dass die Verhältnisse optimal sind, und heute sind auch bereits Leute auf das Galtjoch gestiegen.
Also versuchen wir es morgen! 💪⛰️
