Route: We first walk through villages of Lamone, Origlio and Ponte Capriasca, and then hike up to Monte Bigorio, where we'll have lunch. We then stay close to the ridge and hike up to Cima di Lago, passing a bunker on the way there. Finally, we descend to Mezzovico.
Conditions: According to SwissTopo there should be no snow on the route.
Pace: Moderate (on the faster side - with multiplier approximately 1.2x compared to the SwissTopo time).
Starting point: Lamone-Cadempino train station
End point: Mezzovico train station
How to get there: Train IR 46 direction Locarno departs from Zurich HB at 8:05. Change in Arth-Goldau and Lugano. https://a.sbbmobile.ch/s/W0FQXwn4
How to get back: There are frequent train connections from Mezzovico.
What to take: Regular hiking equipment, in particular comfortable shoes (hiking boots or trail running shoes); food - we’ll have picnic lunch somewhere on the way; additional warmer clothing; water; sunscreen; sunglasses.
Photos: I might take photos during the hike that might afterwards be shared on the HB group. If you don't want to be on the pictures, please let me know in advance. I will also create a Google Photos album and asked everyone to contribute their photos.
Disclaimer: I'm not a guide - everyone hikes at their responsibility and risk.
